PCA AUTOCROSS IS SUNDAY

Post by VIC »

The local region of the Porsche Club of America invites you to participate in their autocross, this Sunday (04.07.13)! The event is in Pigeon Forge, on the fourteen acre parking facility for Splash Country (just down the street from Dollywood).
Originally scheduled as a school/clinic for PCA, it was changed to an open autocross due to the previous weather prompted cancellation.
You should expect a top 2nd gear course, with flowing corners, and some F1 influences. Historically, lap times at Dollywood are in the high 50's.
No pre-registration is necessary. Arrive at 0800+, and we hope to have the first car off at 1000. All safety rules/regs will be observed, including PCA's reg of no riders. All drivers older than twenty-one are welcome, and all vehicle models will be welcome.
Call 865.207.4303 with any questions...

The elevation change is similar. The one event that I ran there had a pretty extreme uphill start that was hard on clutches and such, at least for the pea shooter cars. No medians. Splash Country surface is a lot dirtier/grittier. I think the non-Porsches use SCCA classes, but classes don't really matter. I don't think they've ever had a sound policy.

The event will feature a down hill start, and even though the lot is on a slope, the slope is not that maddening. F1 features mean, that some of the curves and turns shown at F1 tracks, we like to incorporate into the event. One car running at a time. Wireless electronic timing. Wide gates + open slaloms.
