Night Auto Cross December 7th

Post by 04Baja »

Hi all. I am working on a night autocross Toys for Tots Christmas event with a car show for cars that come decorated. Scott Gibson please pm me so we can get approval for December 7th at pellissippi starting around 3pm - unless you think we should do it elsewhere. I have approval from the owner of my company to cover a tractor and trailer with Christmas lights and the goal is to fill the truck with toys. This will be BIG, I will have many sponsors and news crews and radio stations in on it. Some of the guys working on this with me will be decorating their cars as well and we will be participating in a few parades promoting not only this event but SCCA as well. I know its only July but Toys for Tots needs to set this stuff up early.

This needs to go through the solo committee first.

We talked at the last meeting. No one had an issue with it.

Last meeting was not a real meeting -- too much noise. I for one heard nothing about a night AX.

Has anyone checked the lot out after dark?

It is pretty well lit, but it might be challenge to keep the lot clear. They have classes that day.

PSCC has said no to a night autocross.

I went out there last night and thought it was possible if we provided lights at each of the light poles. The least lit areas on the lot are the base of the poles and if you are not aimed directly at them, the poles are not very visible. Also we would need new vests that have reflective stripes. But, I got a message this morning that made the whole issue moot. No night autocrosses at Pellissippi.
