I like to use SoloStorm. I don't use the video portion of it- not sure there's much to be gained there looking out the windshield of the car. Setup with automatic triggering for start/finish and an external 10Hz GPS, it's very helpful. Make your run, and it automatically plots your runs for review when you get back to your paddock spot.

As for looking over the data, I think some people get too wrapped up in the finer details with lat G's, driver inputs, footage, and whatnot. That stuff's for geeking out on after the event. Between runs it's pretty easy to see where driver A pulls away from driver B and how much time/speed/distance is left in the car at different elements. I'll spend a couple minutes tops finding a couple key areas to improve. Then drop the tire pressures, get in the car, and get my head straight.

Just my experience.

I think my Shitometer based on the seat fixation of my ass realy helps me out. Actually based on my pucker factor vs real speed into a corner. Meaning I like to drive as fast as the car can go. but not realy to the true handling of the car on a given surface. Relating into a true squirt or wrong blast factor of the corner. there are times you could pos get skeered while driving around a corner but things happen

I have been racing for just under 3 years and feel I have made a good bit of progress. I contribute a good bit of that to data. Here is how I rank the keys to getting fast are....
1. Seat time, lots of it. I think I did like 35 events my first year in the S2k
2. Faster co-driver ride-a-longs, riding
3. Video & video comparisons with others.
4. Finally data

We used Racekeeper and 3 cameras for the first year and it was instrumental. It still ended up being alot of just looking at the videos side by side to see where I was off line. Then we went to data.

Racekeeper sucks though, for whatever reason the cameras don't overlay in HD. They looked blurry when looking at the three cams overlayed. The software is also not the best.

Currently, I like to use SoloStorm. How much have you used the new version? It is pretty awesome. I like using the GoPro as the video source which auto imports into the device running SoloStorm. Side by side comparison of a faster run broken down by segments is the best way to get faster at Pro-Solos. Even then though it really comes down to watching the videos and maybe looking at speeds.

Good luck Steve! I hope you find one you like.

Thought I'd share some data acq, iRacing style. This program is called iSpeed. Really gives you a lot of detail. I find the line graphs at the bottom very helpful especially with brake force. In the screenshot below, I have the beacon right before the kink (it's the red bar on the track map).

What kind of car was that? Is the lap time 1.37 and lap average speed 125?

Skip Barber Formula 2000

Yes, on the time. 1 37 (I'm 1 38) but that speed (125 MPH) is only at that point in time right before braking for the kink. So it's trap speed.

You can see that I am .7 MPH slower.

What did your white BMW run there?

So, is there any data acq package for autox that has a time delta view like the above image? That would be beneficial if you could load two runs, look for the sharp fall-offs and try to work from there.
