A call for some specific volunteers

Post by MARKP »

As part of what was discussed in the Bristol thread, we are looking for some chiefs to be in charge of certain critical duties. As a chief, you would need to become an expert with what your area covers. This will include the duties related to the job, including making sure you have everything needed to perform the task efficiently. If you need more equipment, you have to tell us. If something needs to be fixed, you have to be the one to be sure it gets done. Please note, I said become. This does not mean you have to know it all now, you just have to be willing to research and learn some best practices. This is your opportunity to take on a bigger role within the club, no matter your experience level.

You will also be in charge of training a group of people to effectively do this job, even if you aren't at an event. The training would need to take place away from a regular event or meeting so distractions are minimized. This would be your job for the rest of the year so you would need to be able to attend most events.

Here are the people we are looking for. Please post here if you are interested in a position and I will update this post as positions are filled.

Grid - Josh McCoig

I'm happy to do or learn (if I have not done it) any position, but I'm going to be very limited this year, plan on being solid next year. I have done registration and sound of late.

I won't be around much this year (but I hope to make an event or two). Should be back to making all the locals next season.

Thanks for the replies so far. I want to be sure everyone is clear what they are volunteering for, in case I didn't make it clear earlier.

Marcus: are you saying you will be available to train a small group of minions that can assign workers and train workers to be sure they are doing what they need to do while working course? This training session for your small group will need to be at a time when everyone can be there, separate from an event.

Steve: Will you be at most of the events and train your chosen group to operate grid when you aren't there? See above regarding the training session.

Paul: I think Kristo is covered up with school and Walter is too far away to be the chief. Do you want to take the bull by the horns and get about 6 people trained?

JB: Are you saying you want to be the chief of course or chief of grid? Training session involved either way but pick one.

JY: Are you saying you want to be the chief of course or help out?

Tim: Sorry, I don't know you very well. Thank you for volunteering. Do you want to be the chief of timing? You will need to learn all the ins and outs from one of our timing masters  and get things organized and be sure you have a small group of experts that can run the deal in your absence. You will need to know how the timing equipment works and how to resolve issues when they pop up. Training at some other time as noted above...
