Sales

Post by oldmuscle69 »

So is the guy in the current issue of Sports car working to sell BFG tires since he works for them and also has strong input with the SCCA ? Maybe even he can vote on SCCA issues.I can't even burn my copy cause it will stink too bad, prob gonna wrap in freezer bag and bury it.

I canceled my Grassroots Motorsports subscription for that reason. Nothing but sales and blowing smoke where the sun don't shine. I haven't seen the new sports car. Let me guess, they talk to Peter C?

Does Isley work for BFG?

Anyway, it seems to me that BFG is the tire company that would give them the data, thus that is what ended up in the article. Also the article didn't say anything about people winning on the tires or how fast they are. http://www.sportscarmag-digital.com/spo ... pg=42#pg42

I see it with iRacing all the time. "Why can we have thingermadoodle?!" Answer: "Thingermadoodle won't give us the data we need!"

And something else:

Print (magazines) are dying. Thus, more and more ads. There's a balance, of course, but it's tuff times for Car magazines.

OK. I looked at the article. Thanks Chris, on the cell phone here.

Its a pretty generic overview of the differences between a street and race tire. Its not the sales bent article I'm used to seeing in GRM. Michelin being the parent of BFG is a little more vocal on engineering than Goodyear. Those are the 2 North American companies that make both street and DOT race tires that you might be able to talk to a tire engineer. GY hasn't been so active so that leaves Michelin/BFG.

I have grown disappointed with GRM since they recently "tested" a gasoline additive. They did not provide much info about the additive then claimed a performance increase after putting it in a Ford Focus in a tank full of 87 octane gas. The owner's manual for this car clearly states that although it is safe to put 87 in it but it improves performance to put 93 in it. GRM never said this additive is an octane booster but I found out through other sources that it is. This article was nothing but a bullshit infomercial.

1) BFG has had strong ties with the SCCA for a few years. No surprise there. Frankly, the club needs these kind of relationships.

2) If you are upset because of the Toyo, I feel that the Hankook will be just as fast and last longer.

When Hollis wanted a national championship and didn't care about contingency, he was on the 225 Hankooks up front and the Toyos in the rear.

I love the Toyo and think they are an amazing tire, but if I planned to stay in the car, I'd have no problem running the 'kooks. I'd probably buy a set right now.

Kooks pay this year.. Toyo don't. aint nobody running/winning in STS/STF/STC
all still on Toyos. fluke?

now, granted.. they are prolly the best alternative for sure.. but still, just a second rate option.

whats really gonna suck..... is, we are gonna be running a Toyo derived pax next year on tires a second/60 slower... lol
