Would SCCA rules allow the use of this to video runs? It would make for some cool videos though the cars would outrun it on larger tracks.

I'm a robotics, mechatronics, additive manufacturing type so would naturally gravitate to this kind of solution. Dumb or cool, even if expensive?
PS...I've been so swamped at work including evenings and weekends that I haven't be able to even touch the Vette to get it fixed to run...will definitely miss the August event as well as far as driving goes...may be able to come spectate for a couple of hours.

Very cool.
However it's a DRONE!
SCCA events are a NO DRONE ZONE!

Coolest autocross videos I've ever seen...marknoakes wrote:Dumb or cool, even if expensive?
Specifically banned by the SCCA (and others) due to "tort law thieves" and insurance companies.
See here: http://forum.etrscca.org/viewtopic.php? ... lit=drones

I think SCCA reacted to an incident where one crashed on course in Texas.

What's the bigger (absolutely uninsurable) problem?

Re: new approach to video runs
Why did I have a gut feeling that there would be some kind of rule against this?
So per the links a tethered dirigible with the same auto-tracking camera technology would be ok?

I love outside the box thinking. Tethered dirible, that's an awesome idea. Plus, I just like saying, tethered dirigible.marknoakes wrote:Why did I have a gut feeling that there would be some kind of rule against this?

Of course you do, lol.rocket71 wrote:I just like saying, tethered dirigible.
But I think you lose the coolness of panning approaching / following shots, such as here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JK4-kG4 ... e=youtu.be
And for where it goes from there: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sq ... ial-camera
What's next? Who knows...
Fascinating stuff (but completely uninsurable).

In a previous thread, I pointed out a tethered blimp. A dirigible crashing at an event?? Oh the humanity!marknoakes wrote:Why did I have a gut feeling that there would be some kind of rule against this?
