**OFFICIAL** Adessa Event Thread
Re: **OFFICIAL** Adessa Event Thread
U for sure have not been to any rod runs or any hot rod events in a LONG LONG time. My car from the factory showroom floor busted 102-104 before I put the roush on it. Some new cars have aggresive exhaust on them now a days from the factory.

110 decibels is 10 times more intense than 100 decibels.

Nuisances can always be removed at the discretion of the event chair, no?MARKP wrote:I thought we were limiting to 110

I will go back and add: "Needlessly make a complete nuisance of yourself over 110db and you'll probably get run off".

Top fuel dragster: 163dB
Formula 1 race car: 147dB
threshold level for hearing damage: 85dB
There's a time factor as well. You can stand 90dB continuously for about 8 hours, but 115 dB for only 15 minutes.
If I remember, I'll take my Radio Shack sound meter to Austin in October and make some measurements. One of the people on my turn at Austin last year didn't wear any hearing protection at all. "You get used to it," he said. No, you get deaf. Your normal head set for shooting has a Noise Reduction Rating of 30dB. For something like F1 or Top Fuel, you really need earplugs and ear muffs.

My Z06 has stock headers, stock cats, and a Corsa Xtreme axle-back. I don't think it's insane/obnoxious, but I'm sure it's over 96db. Was anyone working the course when I ran at the Jetport last weekend that can comment (red C5 Z06, black wheels)? I just don't want to make the 2+ hour drive and get sent packing.
Re: **OFFICIAL** Adessa Event Thread
Your car definitely isn't anywhere close to 110.

Sound pressure is measured at a distance of 50 feet. It could be 110dB at 5 feet and be 90dB at 50 feet, assuming that sound pressure drops as the inverse square of the distance.jhix33 wrote:My Z06 has stock headers, stock cats, and a Corsa Xtreme axle-back. Re: **OFFICIAL** Adessa Event Thread
Do we have to go to tech on Friday or will there be something available for Saturday?
Re: **OFFICIAL** Adessa Event Thread
We've always had tech Saturday morning.
I won't be going Friday night. I work until 8 or 9 that day.

I figured there would be something, just making sure. No way I could make Friday either.
Re: **OFFICIAL** Adessa Event Thread
I'll be there for tech about 7:30/8:00 or thereabouts

Re: **OFFICIAL** Adessa Event Thread
fixed my car (rear diff mount bushings), will be at adesa... gonna bring the 305s and see if they are still sticky, they might have gotten ruined during the move, they may have been stored in sub 32 temps, impossible to know for sure.
just to confirm, we are not required to show up on Friday for tech, right? We can just get there Saturday morning?
