I'm a totally green newbie here. I just want to go out to an event and learn what this is all about. I have a Focus St (uptraded from a 2.3 NA Mazda 3 5speed). I'm tired of mountain driving (and all its inherent dangers and police encounters) and want to do something exciting and different with other drivers that like corners over raw straight line speed.

Ray I see you have gotten tired of one our tourist favored places. Yes please show up on our first 2015 event and have some fun. You might be surprised at the fun you have.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I wouldn't say I have gotten tired of it. That was probably the wrong word choice. Its more along the lines of safety for other road goers and myself. :)

Oh. I do have one more important question. Do I have to sign up and be an SCCA member to come to the opening event?

You don't have to be a member. However, if you aren't, you will have to purchase a weekend membership. If you join, we give you the first event free and you get all the benefits that come along with being an SCCA member.

Any mods to your FoST, Ray?

I'm really thinking about getting one. It seems to be close to perfect as a do everything daily/toy.

Welcome Ray.

We're a good bunch here and there's no shortage of able, experienced people to hide you along and make it a positive and fun day and become the start of something great.

Just come with an open mind and eager to learn. Just like many of us, including myself, we come in the time thinking... "I know how to drive fast... how hard can it be?"

We all learn and no-one is it there looking at your runs laughing. We're all new once, so come out and just have fun and not worry about fast times.

My near future plans are to Install my Adjustable Clutch Master Cylinder, Trans Fluid Flush, New Slave cylinder. I also need to install my baffeled oil pan.

Trackday @ Road Atlanta on Feb 28th is on my calendar, as is the Half Mile Shootout in Clayton, GA in Septmeber.

I would like to start a LS build by the end of the year. Will include ported GM casting heads, mild cam, and perhaps a powder adder.

Given the new RTP/PAX index for 2015 and a full year driving experience ....looking at numbers from 2014 my goal is to shave off 1 second with new tires and be top 15 or 20 cars in PAX/RTP at every event.

TracksUnlimited.net. It's ran by Mark West down in Cleveland, TN. I have been to events before through them - well organized but with a relaxed feel. I will decide in the next week or so if the car will be ready by then or not.
