Bristol is back baby!!!

Post by jcox07 »

We have secured Bristol this year thanks to the man Mr. Yoda the autox master.....The June date has been moved from June 21st to the Bristol two day event ( yes I said 2 day event) of June 6th and 7th. We will make the change on the solo schedule soon. Mark this on your calendar. The track days for the bristol .5 mile banked oval laps will be on Saturday after we get done running the autox.. Looking forward to seeing everyone for this years racing.

hope this works out well .. the last time we tried to have a 2 day event at Bristol no one seemed to want to travel :(

and as much as I'd like to attend, (it's an hour+ closer for me) … I'll be at Road Atlanta that weekend … already signed up and paid for :(

Hello All,

Really happy to read that "Bristol is Back..."!!!

Hopefully, consideration might be given to having Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th as separate (stand alone) events. For some of us, two day combined events add significant costs for hotel and meal expenses or the extra vehicle costs and time associated with commuting both days.

Also on Saturday the 6th, there is a Highlands Sports Car Club points event scheduled at that group's newly acquired site in Franklin, NC.

Thanks,

I know it's early but I like to plan ahead. Since last year was a one day points event and this one will be two days how will the points be given? Best time from both days combined? What if you only compete one of the two days? Does only competing one day effect championship points? Does anyone know of any other events going on around Bristol....making it hard to get a motel room on June 6th ...any suggestions for a good motel?....I plan on staying overnight.

The problem with each day being points is that if you are away this weekend you miss 200 points, not just 100. So...not my call but two separate events usually doesn't work.

I see the other side too. I plan on both days either way.

I hope not ...be nice to make a decision early. I think a lot people didn't like it unless it's been repaired or the course is designed to avoid the bad stuff.

I don't see any way we end up running on that again.

We will not be running on the rough stuff, but we may grid on it.

So it's a combination of best times over the 2 days like SEDiv was? Grid on the rough stuff :D

It will be your best single time from both days and total up both times and best time wins.

Shall I assume no karts still? Even if we're running in more open areas and not around the fencing?

It will be no karts due to the cables coming off of the poles.

I kind of knew the answer to that. What if we strapped some hay or other soft impact barriers around the cables?

We'd still have to be 50 ft off of those cables (right?), which I think would be a serious impact to the course design.
