EDIT 25 March 2015: Asking price reduced from $2300 to $1300. Please note, THIS CAR HAS NO KEYS! After searching high and low, they have been lost in my parents' pre-move shuffle. Reproducing a key using the key code from Mazda has proven unsuccessful. For all intents and purposes, this probably means this car is now a parts car. If you know anyone who may be interested, please pass this along. This car must go ASAP.
EDIT 31 March 2015: Asking price reduced from $1300 to $1000. Reminder, there are no keys for the car. If you have access to another RX-7's ignition and lock cylinders, you might breathe life back into it. Time is not on my side.
EDIT 06 April 2015: Car is sold!
**************************************************************************************************************************
My parents just sold their house (where it was being stored) and I don't have the room to take the car in myself or the time to do much with it right now. I'd like to see it go to an enthusiast, but it's gotta go one way or another. This car goes AS-IS, so be prepared to trailer it if necessary. Some photos can be found here.
The GOOD:
- Gray exterior.
- 5-speed manual.
- 13B with original fuel injection intact.
- Power windows.
- Sunroof.
- Tokico Illumina adjustable shocks.
- Eibach Sport springs.
- Electric cooling fan conversion.
- Racing Beat header, pre-silencer, and muffler.
- K&N air filter.
- Oil and filter changes every 3k miles.
- Repaired oil cooler and Mazdatrix stainless braided oil cooler hoses.
- approx. 50k miles on new clutch and rebuilt transmission.
I also have a set of 2nd Gen "phone-dial" style wheels with an old set of auto-x rubber on them.
The MEH:
- approx. 165k miles on chassis (this is from memory, perhaps faulty ... don't quote me yet).
- approx. 40k miles on Mazda Factory Rebuilt engine (the original ate an apex seal around 125k).
- Burgundy interior (meh to me at least).
- THIS CAR HAS NO KEYS!
- This was my daily driver for a few years at UT, so there are door dings galore.
- The power steering pump bit the dust many moons ago, so it is a manual steering car now. The car is light enough that it doesn't take the Hulk to maneuver it, but it's clear it ain't assisted no more.
- The bottom lip of the front bumper is warped where the oil cooler fitting split and sprayed hot oil onto it.
- It was rear-ended back in '02, so the rear bumper cover is scratched and the gas tank is dented (though fortunately not punctured) from having the muffler pushed into it.
- The paint has taken a beating from the sunlight over the years, although it has been garaged for the last 10 years or so. Several plastic interior parts have suffered even worse from UV exposure, temperature, and age.
- It has not been started in at least that long. It ran great when I parked it, but time still takes its toll. So it'll likely need dedicated TLC including new plugs, a new battery, a full fluid change and a few manual turns with MMO/ATF before starting it up. There are several how-tos online for removing carbon deposits and starting a dormant rotary.
I'm now asking $1000. Serious offers will be considered.
