Anybody got a car I can co-drive the rest of the season? I'm a little worried about what might be going on between Jeff and Ted in the Mustang this year.

I will let you and Lin spend that quality time in the mustang. 8)

As for the grading of the grate, I'm thinking of taking a straightedge and a ruler out there and take a quick measure of the grading down to it. Hiting it straight doesn't concern me so much. The angled one will rotate the kart if on the power the opposite direction of the last wheel on the ground. At Pelli I just lift quick off when going over a bump/pavement change. No problems then other than slow times.

I'm looking for Jeff to say something like "Smokie, Bristol & Chilhowee are Kart free events" LLolita fine with me, I'll try and beat some co drivers!

Sounds to me like Bristol and Chilhowee are off limits for karts. Smokies, at your own risk.

Bristol and Chillhowee definitely are not kart lots. I plan to go look at the Smokies lot one evening or this weekend. Last weekend they had the Remote Area Medical there so I decided not a good time to look at pavement.

Hope nobody's on dial up  :: edit :: also, I decided to try smugmug as I was informed it was free. It's not free, so look within 14 days or those pictures are GONE

What's y'alls thoughts on a kart hitting those?

You know better than me, but I would say, bring the karts at your own risk. I don't see it as a safety issue since I don't see any way a kart will be going over them sideways.

As I understand, none of us are bringing karts. If some one is, let me know Lol

I'm debating it. Either do a slow and go, or lift off throttle at speed and not drop down into the dip, just floatand bounce over it.

However, there are a few issues that might prevent me driving there.

Paging Scott Boito to the blue courtesy phorum.

He's put more autoX miles on karts than anyone else here in ETR. We aren't hitting them sideways like at Puru with the uneven concrete slabs. The road race kart track in Nashville goes from the apron into the banking which is pretty abrupt right next to a concrete wall and Armco guardrail  There are some pavement potholes and gouges at PSTCC that can unsettle a kart and we deal with it just fine.

To clarify the issues possibly preventing me running are in no way about the safety or smoothness of the pavement at Smokies. Its personal life and health. If snorting a line of liquid lava would cauterize and cure me, I would.

Looks like Kieran's kart would be OK since his has a lot of ground clearance, but mine would have the scrape from H3ll if I hit it straight on. Kinda like running over the curbs straight on at a track, not that I've ever done that...

If the course could be angled, even a little, then the karts could likely go over it OK. But straight on could be ugly, especially if your chassis is raked toward the front.
