Numbers for solo events
Numbers for solo events
Hey, my name's Ben Proffitt. I'm new to SCCA and am part of the ETR. I'm hoping to attend the Novice Autocross School on Oct. 3rd at Smokies stadium and I wanted to make sure about numbers for my car. I drive a 2009 Honda Fit Sport. Wanted to double check to make sure what class that would fall under and what numbers/letters I need for the side of my car. Thanks

Have you modified the car in any way, and if so what?

Just a cold air intake so it would sound more like a real car instead of a blender, but that's all

The cold air intake will put you in STF. If you put the stock intake back on, the car would run in HS.

Re: Numbers for solo events
You should also register in Novice. HS is the better choice. The cold air intake is unlikely to make the car faster.

Re: Numbers for solo events
That's probably true if it's just a CAI and no tune. I doubt your competitors in novice class will care, unless you win the class. The cold air intake is unlikely to make the car faster.

no tune on my Integra … header took the dyno numbers from 105 at the front wheels, to 121 … and then the CAI took it to 131 … with the same % increase in torque … again zero tune .. just that the Integra responded extremely well to opening up it's air pump .. as it were

Walter,
The CAI without the headers might not have made as much difference.

the above is for the Integra …don't think you ever saw it …John Brown wrote:Walter.. you told me you put out like 90....
the dyno for the CRX … from a VERY optimistic dyno, says that I'm at 110 +/-
most HC racers running Hondata end up in the 115 range … all I've got is a chip … tuned for A/F ratios more than lots of timing and a tiny gain of hp … want the car to be "safe" on track

Re: Numbers for solo events
In answer to OP, you'll need 2 sets of numbers and class designations (HS or STF). They'll need to be of a contrasting color to your car. Class designations must be at least 4" tall. Your numbers need to be at least 8" tall. 1 or 2 digit numbers only for a one-driver car. If you plan on having a co-driver, just get two extra "1" magnets for your co-driver. (If your number is 22, your co-drivers' number will be 122)
