Event 1 2017
Re: Event 1 2017
Last I looked we had 117 paid entries yesterday that number could be higher when the final totals come in. It was the best opening day ever for ETR. Like others have said...easy simple course.. at least 3 cars running at a time..6 runs...done around 5PM. Registration was able to be up and running by 7:30AM Thanks to Dave for making the PAX changes in the computer at Cracker Barrel breakfast and Brian setting up the computers in the trailer in the morning. I thought the new chiefs did a great job. Would have been nice to have a Hot Dog truck yesterday as I waited 20 minutes to get 2 tacos and a drink as many also did. Hope they will at least have the bathrooms at the stadium open at the next event. For opening day it was a success IMO.

I also got to "take a spin" in my Mustang at the bottom of the course. I came around the 180 and just continued right into a big old 360. Looking foreward to getting the Bridgestones mounted on my new wheels, whenever they finally come in....MARKP wrote:Great event today. Roughly 120 drivers and 6 runs. Great job to everyone keeping the event rolling. I hope everyone had fun!
Jeff's Mustang is always fun and I got to take a spin in my Focus, literally.

Re: Event 1 2017
Awesome event guys, and Chris did a great job putting together a fun course.
My 16 year old alternator gave up on the second run and my battery failed after Run 4 - but I should be good to go for the next event.

Well ya gotta spin it to win it sometimes. Glad you'll be getting some stickies on that car, it'll help a lot.

Also had a great time. First time back with SCCA org after 5-6 years. Chiefs, stewards and workers were helpful and great.
Course was simple and fun.... yet I DNF'ed 3 times ..... one with a spin at the second slalom . Funny how everyone knows to never lift or brake in a turn.... except me.... year after year.
Next event will have more suitable tires. Old, dry, over-inflated rollers were not the ticket. Hopefully the Vega will be back in commission soon so I won't have to race a modern, well-balanced and proven platform Miata much longer. Lol.
The wait at Taco Bell was HORRIBLE. I second the Hot Dog Truck request. The rallycross venue in Tazwell has pizza and hot dogs ......... just sayin'

Re: Event 1 2017
I thought the event ran pretty damn good for first one of the year! Good job to everyone who made it happen, as usual.
I'm happy the new Z stayed together for the event, more or less the clutch was slipping around James' 3rd run. We've thrashed on it quite a bit over the last couple of weeks, so it's nice to see it moving and stopping on it's own Over the next couple of events the Z will hopefully have some more front camber to help some of it's front-end push, another ~30rwhp from a different engine and reflashed ecu, and fresh tires

I threw this together from the live results. No guarantee on accuracy, but we can bench race over it:

Re: Event 1 2017
My first event in a long time and my first driving the Mustang with the new suspension. Felt pretty good and improved 5 seconds over 5 runs. Last run was full hot rod just to see how sideways I could get it so I could feel out the limits of the new setup.

I went straight from the trailer to my car, then to the Shell to pee. When I returned to line up in grid, Heat 2 had already started.....
