Federal Tires

Just ordered the federal tire for the GT500 for my street tire since the goodsux are done I thought I would try them and for a set of 4 at 537.00 it was a no brainer to try them. The tire is 160 tw and 10.4 inches wide, it is worth a shot to see if they will be decent and I know about any tire will be better than the goodyears that are on it now. They should be here by Thursday and mounted and on the car by the weekend and a follow up report soon.

I thought that the Federal's were a tire that the crapcan racers and Street tire a-x'ers were trying out … if 160 tw ?? what ???

Walter I need some tars when I drive it on the street, I am not going to race it on street tires, but I may have some one that wants to. So I needed new tires any way and for a set of 4 at just over 500.00 and at 160 tw, I said what the heck. The bfg's were suppose to be good and they may be on heavy cars as this may be the same with these tires as well.

wasn't questioning your choice, how well I understand the need for inexpensive tires … just I thought the Federal's were the next "best" thing in Street … guess it's a different tire … since 160 won't pass the SCCA mandate

I do think if shaved they would be a little closer than most think to the toyo. Next year it won't matter so run the toyo this year and go to next year guessing is the best I think any one can expect.

Hankooks 0n 7.5 or 195's suppose to be the ticket??? They aint been for the last three years.. I doubt a new and improved version of a 200tw tire is gonna be better than a 140tw tire..

I do have to say,that the 225 Kooks I had on the blue STR car was much more stuck that the STS car.

I'm glad.... and I definitely know James is glad that my car will be back on that setup after tomorrow. First event will be at Black Lake this Sunday. Speaking of which, anyone guna make it down here for it?

The federals will be here Wed night and I hope to get them mounted and balanced on Saturday and on the car to see how they feel. The size I got was the biggest they made in a 19 inch tire, 285/35/19 in the 595 rpm series. More updates as I try them on the road.

Ted go to simple tire .com and they are in cookville Tn. They have the same tire JB bought at 74.00 for 63.99 in the 195/50/15 and I got my 595 rpm in a 285/35/19 for 117.00 each
